60th Anniversary Giveback is Stronger Than Ever with More Than $35,000 Donated in 1st Quarter

America’s Christian Credit Union (ACCU) is pleased to announce over $35,000 in donations have been given to Kingdom-building organizations during the first quarter of the year. ACCU’s simple but commanding mission statement “To Reach, Serve, and Teach” continues to shine in the credit union’s philanthropic work.

During a recent staff meeting, ACCU President/CEO, Mendell L. Thompson presented Craig Coulter, Senior Pastor of Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene in Oro Valley, AZ, a check for $2,500 to support the church’s Special Needs Ministry program, as part of ACCU’s Visa® Giveback program. Each quarter ACCU gives back to four top tier ministries; each of these ministries provides essential services and makes a meaningful impact in their communities. At the close of the first quarter in 2018, the program gave back to New Beginnings Adoption & Family Services (Tupelo, MS), The Legacy Center (New York, NY), The World Mission Broadcast project of the Church of the Nazarene (Kansas City, MO) and Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene for a total of $12,630!

ACCU’s charitable giving to local non-profit organizations in the first quarter was further fueled by generous employee donations and by the Live the Mission (LTM) program. LTM promotes and challenges employee volunteerism by awarding points to employees for volunteering at the end of each quarter to top performers.

  • Employees generated $2,548 through payroll deductions to aid Neighborhood Homework House, Shepherd’s Pantry and Children’s Miracle Network.
  • The 4th annual Pause for Paws pet adoption day raised over $400 for local shelters and found loving homes for 28 animals.
  • $2,500 was given to the Azusa-based Neighborhood Homework House's (NHH) Annual Benefit Dinner to support the organization's rapid growth and demand for greater services. ACCU employees regularly volunteer at NHH to help tutor underserved students.
  • $500 in books and resources was donated for the Wesleyan Holiness Connection Pastors and Leaders Day.
  • Prayer cards and programs were provided for the 2017 Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast in Glendora, CA, and ACCU Board Member Dr. Kevin Mannoia was the keynote speaker. Be sure to watch the “Sandbox” message from the event here.
  • ACCU partnered with First Christian Church of Glendora for the annual Empty Bowls Supper Benefit. ACCU employees rallied together to serve soup, and purchase 75 bowls for the event, accounting for $1,500 in donations, in addition to the $600 contribution made by ACCU for the food pantry and food vouchers distributed by Glendora PD.
  • A recipient for the first quarter adoption grant was selected, and will soon be announced.
  • Employees volunteered at the Walnut, CA’s City Blessing Church Easter Eggstravaganza community outreach event, donating hundreds of popsicles to help families beat the heat.
  • ACCU generously provided a $15,000 sponsorship for the Night of Champions event at Azusa Pacific University (APU) reaching thousands of youth in Southern California with the message of Christ’s love.

These are just a handful of the charitable donations made by ACCU during the first 3 months of its momentous 60th yearcelebration. We are excited to see what is to come from ACCU's generous ministry in the coming months.
