Viruses and malware can come in disguised as a gift or special offer. The likelihood of receiving one of these emails increases during the holiday season. Be safe and don’t open emails from someone you don’t know or a site you haven’t visited. Another common tactic used by fraudsters is phony messages and emails stating they are from your bank or credit card company. Always call the financial institution directly to confirm they sent a message before opening the email or answering any questions on a phone call.
We all see ads as we are scrolling through social media and often these ads are geared toward a topic or item we’ve showing interest in. Beware of links in social media websites and apps. Some offers are really too good to be true. Search the company online before you click the offer and see if they are listed a reputable business before you shop.
